Hello!
My name is Sarah Fredrickson and I am currently studying journalism at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. I am also pursuing a minor in political science and a certificate in new media. I will be graduating in May 2024.
During my time at Grady, I have worked as a Senior Production Manager for Grady Newsource, the only broadcast show for Northeast Georgia, and have served as the Vice President of DiGamma Kappa, a professional society for journalism and broadcast students.
This summer, I worked with the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. as a production intern. In this role, I had the opportunity to shadow almost every position in the newsroom and worked on many assignments. I researched, wrote and edited multiple stories for digital and broadcast. I reported votes for Virginia’s primary elections, field produced during the D.C. Trump indictment and coordinated and managed the guest list for Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s first town hall. I had the opportunity to work with the local community and volunteer at food drives across D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
After college, I hope to pursue a role in the production of broadcast news for local television. I would like to start line producing in a medium to large market. I would also be interested in exploring field production and segment production as well. My passion is in leadership and helping others grow to their full potential. I would like to continue to grow in my own career journey to executive producer and beyond to help mentor young journalists like myself.
Other previous work I have done includes serving as Director of Communication for Brumby Council, Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Alpha Gamma Delta, Director of Parent Events for Alpha Gamma Delta, and the Social Media and Marketing Intern for the Athens Visitor’s Bureau. I love spending time with friends, going to random concerts, doing paint-by-numbers and puzzles and watching trashy reality TV shows.
